1. Standing in the middle of Commercial Street in Astoria on Christmas Eve night looking at my hometown silently dressed in it's Christmas Decorations.
The TEAM
10. Dancer
Dancer is the quiet one of the current group. She stands 2nd in the order on most flights but prefers to train in solo trips throughout the year. Her lack of outgoing personality may be the reason I have her currently at the 10 spot.
9. Comet
Comet is known as the most stubborn reindeer around the stable. Most of the handlers have a hard time getting her in the stall at the end of day. Comet also talks back to almost everyone, except the big guy of course. One time when I was visiting the crew I brought some apples and that crazy Reindeer bit my finger instead of the apple. Although she is a strong flyer, she is only number 9 on this list.
8. Shasta
Shasta? Who is that? Well Shasta was a backup for the team long ago. She is super nice to everyone and is always there to help when she can. She was special because she could fly higher than any Reindeer ever could. She still holds the record for the highest flight in 1 min. 25,124 ft'. Her problem was that she has no direction and even though she was harnessed to the other Reindeer, she would constantly pull everyone off course.
7. Vixen
Vixen is the opposite of Cupid. She is obviously the devilish one of the current team. She always seems to have something up her reigns. But when push comes to shove and the team needs a reminder that focus is needed, this is the girl that gets the job done.
6. Rudolph
How can the Movie Star of the team not make the list?
5. Rocket
Rocket is the fastest Reindeer that has ever pulled the sleigh. In the early years of the sleigh, it was just Scout, Rocket, Donder and Blitzen and boy could they fly! Rocket kept everyone on the supersonic fast pace through the night
4. Cupid
This little heart breaker is the envy of all the girls in the village. It's possible that just the twinkle of her eyes got her to number 4 on the list.
3. Donder
Another one of the originals. Donder and Blitzen are of course best friends and come as a package. Donder is the one who is afraid of nothing and shows the courage and braveness when the team heads into a storm. Because of this confidence I put "Thunder" at #3
2. Scout
Scout was on the very first team. She was here before GPS or advanced mapping. She alone remembered the routes, and locations for every child's house each year. Scout is the sole reason Santa was able to get to where he is now. There was never a missed drop-off in the 300 years Scout led the team.
1. Blitzen
"Lightning" is the other half of the Super-Duo (Donder & Blitzen). Just like Rocket Blitzen is ummm Lightening Fast. hehe Now the fastest of the coursers, Blitzen can pull the team to supersonic speeds in a blink of an eye. Because of the speed, the humble personality, combined with the flashy lifestyle Blitzen tops this list.
